There was an attempt at the Ferryboat some years ago, in the glaring hole left by the demise of the jolly Butchers. Tried to talk a friend of mine who owns a hugely successful pub into taking up the challenge but he pointed out that we oldies don't go out often enough to support anything full-time as we need so much longer to recover. Maybe my next post should be top ten disco dancing records!theprovocativecynichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08107903326035987724noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8970258.post-1166643679812446022006-12-20T19:41:00.000+00:002006-12-20T19:41:00.000+00:00happy christmas to you too! yes it's students next...happy christmas to you too! yes it's students next to me too - we seem to have one good year one bad year. We also have one that tries to play the electric guitar, luckily he has a short attention span and only usually manages 10 minutes or so at a time at a deafening level. He usually plays the same songs in the same oreder - a very off version of Redemption Songs, a few bars of Smoke on the Water and one other that I can't remember.

disco wow - I had a party earlier this year and really enjoyed making disco cds for it - why is there nowhere discoey and not smoky where oldies like me can go dancing? ah well....Juliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06090382196937582571noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8970258.post-1166630643534101872006-12-20T16:04:00.000+00:002006-12-20T16:04:00.000+00:00God, I know what you mean. Haven't listened to any music since a horrendously noisy bunch of students (!) moved in next door this year.

I wouldn't mind having to listen to their music at all times of the day and night (5am this morning for example) if it wasn't such a depressing dirge. Worse than that is the appallingly-bad attempts to play the guitar - trying to persuade my son to go and offer them lessons!

Maybe once they all go home, I'll follow your lead and play some music but at the moment, I just crave silence as did you.

Didn't recognise many of your listed songs - I'm such an unashamed disco bunny that I'm ignorant of anything that isn't in that category or soul/jazz. Anyway - enjoy your listening and Happy Christmas!theprovocativecynichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08107903326035987724noreply@blogger.com
